What the Gut?

Gut Health

So I’m testing out a theory and trying a nutrition program that heals “the gut”. The premise is that if you heal your gut, your stomach will produce more of the neurotransmitter, serotonin. My anxiety disorder appears to stem from a deficiency in this neurotransmitter. Heal the gut, produce more serotonin and cure the anxiety! Right?

I am willing to try just about anything, so although I am perfectly content with my results on pharmaceuticals, I still believe it is best to fix the root cause whenever possible and strive to be even better every day.

Probiotics in the Pink Drink

in the picture at the bottom of this post, I am drinking a “pink drink” which contains probiotics. Along with this drink I also take supplements which contain even more probiotics and other detoxification ingredients. According to several testimonials from people who have tried this program, I will be able to stop taking my anxiety medication!

Will Probiotics Work for Anxiety?

I honestly don’t have any expectation that these products will do anything at all. This is why I am not divulging the name of the program at this time. Just because it doesn’t work for me, doesn’t mean it won’t work for someone else. I do HOPE it works though. If it does, I’ll shout it from the rooftops and be forever grateful!!

Probiotic Results so Far

I have been following the program for about one week already and I have to say I do not feel anything different at all. No adverse effects which is good, but also no positive effects either. I was hoping to sleep better, lose weight and of course lessen my anxiety to levels where I would no longer need medication. Maybe I will have better results in a few weeks? I am giving this one month. After all, it did take my anxiety medication FOUR MONTHS to kick in.

  1. I have nothing against medication, but you are definitely on the right track with improving gut health. For me, this meant going gluten free, soy free, and mostly grain free. I don’t mean to clog up your comments. I just can’t help but share how much going gluten free changed my life. I think the reason it helped is because it was messing up my thyroid which is heavily involved in anxiety and depression. Good luck!
